1. How did you get in to Styling and the Blog world?
It all started with my mother. She always had such a good eye for style, and always dressed me perfectly head to toe. I grew up following and loving fashion, but didn’t realize until my mid twenties that it would become my career. I was heavily influenced to launch Pineapple Ice, after following all the popular fashion blogs at the time. I was frustrated because I loved everything they would style and promote, but it was all things I couldn’t afford. I also realized that it was something no one here in Hawaii was doing, and I wanted to share my style with the world in a more affordable way. So in 2010 I started Pineapple Ice, and in February 2015 I made styling and my blog my main gigs.
2. Who are your favorite designers and style icons?
My list of icons is endless! I love the effortless Alexa Chung, Miroslava Duma, Solange, Riri, Chloe Sevigny, Jane of Stop It Right Now, Pernille Tiesbaek, and Margaret Zhang just to name a few. Some designers I’ve been keeping up with are Demna Gvasalia of Vetements (i’m obsessed), Rossie Assoulin (can’t waif for her spring collection), and Glenn Martens of Y/Project.
3. What trends do you see coming up for this Spring/ Summer '16? And what are you most excited to wear?
I’m excited for everything off the shoulder, lots and lots of denim, and cool colorful stripes. All trends that can definitely overlap into our lifestyle here in Hawai’i nei!
4. What influences your aesthetic?
Living in between San Francisco and Hawaii definitely shaped my style. After moving back home in 2010, my style became of melting pot of both places. Keeping the balance of cool laid back Hawaii, with a touch of city street is definitely my in between. I alway try to keep up with the latest, but street style looks are definitely what influences me most.
5. What do you have coming up this year? (new projects, collabs, exciting things you want to share)
This year has already been so busy already! I’ve been collaborating with my sister a bunch, and I’m hoping to do some big projects with her this year!
